Getting Started with Trezor

Step 1: Unboxing and Inspecting Your Trezor

  1. Unbox Your Trezor: Carefully open the package and inspect the contents. You should have the Trezor device, a USB cable, recovery seed cards, and a user manual.

  2. Check for Tampering: Ensure the security seal on the box is intact. If the seal appears tampered with, contact Trezor support immediately.

Step 2: Connecting Your Trezor

  1. Connect to Your Computer: Use the provided USB cable to connect your Trezor device to your computer.

  2. Visit Trezor.io/Start: Open your web browser and navigate to Trezor.io/Start to begin the setup process.

Step 3: Installing Trezor Bridge

  1. Download Trezor Bridge: If prompted, download and install the Trezor Bridge software from the Trezor.io/Start page. This software enables communication between your browser and the Trezor device.

  2. Install and Run: Follow the installation instructions for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux). Once installed, the Trezor Bridge will run in the background.

Step 4: Initializing Your Trezor

  1. Initialize the Device: Follow the on-screen instructions to initialize your Trezor device. This includes setting up a PIN and generating a recovery seed.

  2. Set Up a PIN: Choose a secure PIN to protect your device. The PIN is required every time you connect your Trezor.

  3. Generate Recovery Seed: Your Trezor device will generate a 12, 18, or 24-word recovery seed. Write down these words on the provided recovery seed card and store it in a secure, offline location. The recovery seed is crucial for recovering your wallet if the device is lost or damaged.

  4. Confirm Recovery Seed: Trezor will ask you to confirm your recovery seed by selecting the words in the correct order.

Step 5: Accessing Your Trezor Wallet

  1. Go to Trezor Wallet: Navigate to Trezor Wallet.

  2. Connect and Unlock: Connect your Trezor device, enter your PIN, and follow the instructions to access your wallet.

  3. Update Firmware: If a firmware update is available, follow the prompts to update your device. Keeping your firmware up-to-date ensures you have the latest security enhancements.

Adding Funds to Your Wallet

  1. Receive Cryptocurrency: Click on the “Receive” tab in your Trezor Wallet. Copy your wallet address and share it with the sender to receive funds.

  2. Buy Cryptocurrency: Use integrated services within Trezor Wallet to purchase cryptocurrency directly.

Sending Cryptocurrency

  1. Send Funds: Click the “Send” tab, enter the recipient’s address, specify the amount, and confirm the transaction.

  2. Confirm on Trezor Device: Verify the transaction details on your Trezor device and confirm.
